Approximately 2300 visitors are expected at the campus of the University institution for this sportive festivity.

They are going to compete in nine Olympic disciplines namely: Basketball, football, volleyball, athletics, wrestling, judo, table tennis, lawn tennis and handball. There will also be Paralympic disciplines such as, throwing Javelin, table tennis and Powerlifting.

The National Federation of university sport (Fenasu) announced a few innovations with the introduction this year of competitions in women's wrestling, competitions in Open challenge, Miss and Master competition (discipline out of competition).

According to the organizers, this 18th edition of the University Games is part of the inquiry of the Cameroonian youth in the 'patriotic burst for growth and territorial integrity" and national solidarity to the victims of the atrocities of the Islamic sect Boko Haram as well as their compatriots committed at the front in the context of the preservation of peace in Cameroon.

Winner of the event in 2014 for the 6th consecutive time, the national Institute of youth and sports (INJS) aims to remain at the top. But the task won't be easy facing competitors like the University of Douala, 2nd in 2014 and the University of Yaoundé I (3rd in 2014) that will have the home advantage.
