The Head of State of Cameroon, Paul Biya, also flag bearer of the ruling party Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) has set up an academy to ensure the militants have an adequate political formation.

The creation of this structure following the launch of the party card placement operation across the country and a few weeks of basic content renewal operations of the CPDM is in line with the political context which is to "strengthen the militant flame”.

Under the supervision of the General Secretariat of the Central Committee, the Academy essentially aims to provide a culture and political activists, to build capacity, and to ensure reconditioning.

Created March 24, 1985 in Bamenda, the CPDM including activists and supporters commemorated its 30th anniversary on March 24, 2015. The party dominates in national politics and occupies 150 deputies out of 180 positions in the National Assembly and 80 senator’s positions on 100 in the upper house of parliament.

More than 300 of the 360 municipalities in the country are headed by the elected presidential party.
